Florida Dance Masters, Inc. (FDM) is a dance organization founded in 1987 that operates both convention and competition events in Florida. The company hosts three events per season, including the BreakOut Convention & Competition in Fort Lauderdale, scholarship auditions and teacher intensives in Orlando, and a Thanksgiving Convention & Title Competitions in Orlando at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. FDM originated when members of the Florida Chapter of Dance Masters of America sought to create an organization focused on serving Florida dance educators and their students. The company's events combine educational convention classes with competitive opportunities. Convention classes are offered across four age levels (Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior), while competitions include solo, duo, trio, group, line, and production categories. FDM awards Mr. & Miss titles for each of the four age divisions during their title competitions. The organization also provides cash awards for high scores and offers scholarship opportunities for member students ages 13-18. High-scoring groups are invited to perform at special showcase events, including the annual Thanksgiving Gala in Orlando.
