DanceFinder brings every dance competition, convention, summer intensive, and college dance program in the US and Canada into one searchable place — so studios, dance parents, and dancers can find and compare it all without hunting across hundreds of websites.

Our story

DanceFinder started as a high-school project. We were living the problem ourselves: every competition, convention, and summer intensive was buried on a different website, in a different format, with no way to compare dates, costs, or locations side by side. So we built the tool we wished existed — and it grew into the most comprehensive dance program directory we could make.

Who’s behind DanceFinder

DanceFinder is built and maintained by a two-person dance family. Andy Lyons runs operations (through Winnow, LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company) and is the person accountable for the site. He builds it alongside his teenage daughter, a competitive dancer whose firsthand experience shapes what we track and how we present it. We’re not a faceless data company — we’re members of the dance community who use this ourselves.

How we build our listings

We’re not an auto-scraper. On a recurring cadence, we gather information directly from 350+ competition companies across the US and Canada, read and summarize each one’s rules, formats, and event schedules, and verify dates and venues. Then we pair every location with practical local information about the destination — travel notes and things to do while you’re in town. Every listing links back to the provider’s official site, and we note when the data was last refreshed.

Today that adds up to 2,000+ upcoming dance competition events, 700+ summer dance intensives, and 250+ college dance programs across 550+ cities. These counts update automatically as our data grows.
