About ShowMakers of America

ShowMakers of America is a Texas-based dance/drill team organization that, since 1988, has trained high school dance/drill teams, pep squads, officers and directors, offering choreography, dance camps, and dance competitions ('contests') across Texas cities including Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley.

Awards, Judging & Scoring

Scoring System

Rating-based system. Soloists with superior ratings (85+) receive award pins; ensembles receive medals; trophies awarded 1st-6th place. Teams/officers earn Division I trophies (1st division rating 85-100 in a category), Sweepstakes (85-100 on 3 routines), Judges Award banner (90-100 avg in 3 categories), Best in Class, Line of Champions, State Champions, and the Pinnacle Award for highest-scoring Varsity team/officer group.

Judging Criteria

Judges score performances on choreography, technique, precision, showmanship and creativity; all 3 judges provide oral critiques and written score sheets.

Pricing

Contest entry fees vary by regional vs. state event and routine type. Regional: Solo $120, Duet $190, ensembles $215-$265, Team $315, Officer $275, Show Production $350. State: Solo $135, Duet $205, ensembles $225-$285, Team $345, Officer $300, Show Production $375. Late entries incur a $25 late fee per routine.Tour-wide typical pricing
