About the Program

Wright State University's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance prepares students to become versatile professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers by integrating rigorous training and performance experience in ballet, jazz, and modern dance with acting and musical theatre studies. For more than 40 years, the B.F.A. Dance Program has prepared students to begin professional careers in modern, ballet and jazz dance companies, on Broadway, in commercial dance venues, and theatres around the world. The program is housed in the School of Fine and Performing Arts within the College of Liberal Arts in Dayton, Ohio.

Coursework

Daily ballet classes plus specialized training in modern and jazz/theatre dance; curriculum also includes pointe work and pas de deux. Dance integrated with acting and musical theatre studies. Audition required for admission (ballet barre plus combinations in ballet, modern, and jazz).

Performance Opportunities

Dance ensemble productions, studio concerts, dramatic and musical theatre productions, and senior choreographic projects performed in February on the main stage. Partnership opportunities with Dayton Ballet and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
