About the Program
The dance program at Washington University in St. Louis, housed in the Performing Arts Department, offers a BA, a Minor, and an MFA in Dance. BA requires 34-35 units (minimum 20 at the 3000 level or above) plus a 3-unit senior capstone. MFA is a 60-unit, two-year program (15 units/semester) covering technical development, choreography and performance, research, mentored teaching, and a culminating public presentation with a dramaturgical essay. Additional techniques taught include Dunham technique (Afro-modern), contact improvisation, Argentine tango, bharata natyam, Spanish dance, Alexander Technique, and Authentic Movement.
