About the Program
Ursinus College's Theater and Dance Department offers a Dance major within a liberal arts context, blending "historical, critical, and practical approaches." Coursework
Major consists of 42-46 credits including six credits of dance technique across three genres and four elective credits at the 300+ level. Dance majors complete a Capstone (TD-400; DANC-462, or 491-492). Technique courses: DANC-200 Modern, DANC-214 Hip Hop, DANC-216 African, DANC-218/219 Rhythm Tap, DANC-220/225 Ballet, DANC-230/235 Jazz, DANC-244 Modern (Intermediate/Advanced), DANC-250 Special Topics.
Facilities
Lenfest Theater (380-seat proscenium arch theater), Blackbox Studio Theater (flexible seating up to 150), and a rehearsal studio renovated in 2021 with sprung Marley flooring plus lighting and sound capabilities.
Performance Opportunities
Dance majors perform in a variety of settings including musical productions. Recent department productions include "Fun Home" (Spring 2025), "Everybody" (Spring 2024), and "Working the Musical" (Spring 2023).
