About the Program

The University of Utah School of Dance is one of the oldest and largest dance programs in the country. Located in Salt Lake City, the school combines a robust guest artist program, renowned faculty with global experience, and a research-intensive university setting. Undergraduate offerings include separate BFA tracks in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and Dance Teaching, plus a Dance Minor and a Ballet Studio Teaching Certificate. Graduate offerings include MFA degrees in Ballet, Dance & Choreography, and a Screendance Certificate. Facilities include a fully staffed professional dance theatre, black box theatre, costume shop, 8 dance studios, and a dance clinic.

Curricula offer breadth and depth in performance, choreography, screendance, pedagogy, theory, and music. Opportunities to pursue minors and second majors alongside dance. Tanner Dance Program is affiliated (community-education arm).

Facilities

8 dance studios, fully staffed professional theatre designed for dance, black box theatre, fully staffed costume shop, locker rooms, dance clinic and Pilates space. Also partners with the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.

Performance Opportunities

Series of 6 professionally produced concerts annually alongside various other performance opportunities. Hosting the 2027 ACDA National Festival.
