About the Program

The University of Iowa Department of Dance is the only comprehensive dance program in Iowa. The University of Iowa was the first university in the United States to award the Master of Fine Arts degree (1940). Iowa Dance is a close-knit creative community nestled in a major research university, guided by nationally respected artist-professors. The program supports BFA and MFA study, with 64% of BA students double-majoring. Undergraduates access 12+ student-led dance concerts and performances each year.
