About the Program
The UCO Department of Dance prepares students for professional careers in dance and dance education by helping them acquire the knowledge and skills to compete and contribute as emerging artists, creative scholars, and leaders in the arts. Whether students aspire to perform on stage, teach in the classroom, or contribute to the dance community, the program balances technical training with creative exploration and offers both undergraduate degree programs and minors.

Coursework
Foundational courses include Modern/Ballet/Jazz Technique and Theory, Choreography and Dance Composition, Laban Movement Analysis and Applied Anatomy, History and Philosophy of Dance, Production and Performance.
Facilities
Mitchell Education Center (MEC, 17,000 sq-ft addition opened 2017) houses the Dance Studio, rehearsal halls, black box studio, costume shop, dressing rooms, and faculty offices. Mitchell Hall Theatre (opened 1926) is the primary performance venue within the College of Fine Arts and Design.

Two resident dance companies: Kaleidoscope Dance Company and KD2.
