About the Program
The UC Riverside Department of Dance embraces both dance making and written scholarship — dancing and writing about dancing. The department offers a full ladder of degrees: undergraduate BA and Minor in Dance, an MFA in Experimental Choreography, and — distinctively — a PhD in Critical Dance Studies, one of the few dance PhDs offered in the United States. UCR's program is grounded in social-justice commitments and takes an inclusive, land-acknowledging approach to dance scholarship.
