About the Program
The Department of Theatre and Dance, housed in Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts in New Orleans, offers undergraduate Dance BA and BFA degrees and a graduate Interdisciplinary Dance Performance (IDP) MFA. The department prepares students through "rigorous interdisciplinary education in the global port city of New Orleans" and produces three to four mainstage productions and two dance concerts annually. Coursework spans ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, African, Brazilian, and hip-hop dance.

Coursework
Catalog course offerings also include Brazilian dance and yoga. The MFA is a 3-year, 60-credit-hour program in which students select an interdisciplinary area of study (at least 15 credits). BFA requires an audition (spring of sophomore year); BA majors must reach Level III in ballet or modern and Level IV in the other. The BA offers a standard track and a Movement Arts Track (Level II standing minimum, ~35 credit hours), both documented in the university catalog.

Performance Opportunities
Newcomb Dance Company presents two original dance concerts annually; additional student-work showcases include the Young Performers series and Above the Oaks series in the dance studio (McWilliams 300). Student works are produced every semester.
