Combine intensive contemporary dance practice and performance opportunities with a rigorous liberal arts education, studying in New York City with adventurous dancers, choreographers, and researchers. The Contemporary Dance program at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts emphasizes experimentation and recent developments in the field of dance, and is structured around four focus areas: Movement Practice, Choreographic Research, History and Theory, and Performance.

Coursework
Program emphasizes "movement practice" over technique. Offerings include contact improvisation, capoeira, and Vogue (Vogue'ology, LDAN 3130). Degree is 39-47 credits with required courses in Foundations in Dance Studies, Introduction to Dance History, Choreographic Research, Experiential Anatomy, Trio of Contemporary Dance Practices, Lang InterArts, plus a Senior Capstone (essay seminar or independent project).
Performance Opportunities
Performances at Lincoln Center, The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Museum of Modern Art, and PS1, plus experimental venues including Danspace Project, Judson Memorial Church, and The Kitchen. Collaborations with Movement Research, New York Live Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Dance Division.
