About the Program
Dance, as an art form, reaches across centuries and cultures. At Juilliard, you will learn the history and repertory from the past that continue to inform today's dance makers and will be challenged to create with celebrated choreographers. Through its classes, performances, and compositional opportunities, Juilliard fosters and empowers the next generation of exceptional artists in the dance world. In 2025 Juilliard welcomed acclaimed dancer and educator Melissa Toogood, a former member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, as the new dean and director of the Dance Division.

Dance Division encompasses ballet, modern (Graham, Limón, Horton, Cunningham), and contemporary technique, plus partnering, pointe, stagecraft, acting for dancers, and choreographic composition (ChoreoComp).
