About the Program
The Hartt School is the University of Hartford's performing arts conservatory. As of July 2026, the Dance Division offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and a Minor in Dance. The BFA in Ballet Pedagogy emphasis is being phased out — no new applications are being accepted for that track. Hartt is one of the founding members of NASD (initial accreditation 1982) and also operates The Hartt School Community Division, offering non-degree community-education dance programs.

BFA in Dance Performance is the currently enrolling degree track. The BFA in Ballet Pedagogy emphasis is being phased out — no new applications accepted as of July 2026. A Minor in Dance is available to all University of Hartford students. The Hartt School Community Division operates separately as a community-education arm alongside the degree programs.
