About the Program
Texas State Division of Dance provides a holistic approach to dance education through rigorous training in technique, performance, choreography, and pedagogy, while cultivating individual creative potential. The Dance Division was founded and fostered by Dr. Joan Hays (Dance Division Director from 1973 to 2003) and is based in the aesthetic philosophies and technical principles of modern dance pioneer Erick Hawkins. Texas State Dance performs several shows each season with 2-3 shows in the fall and 4-5 in the spring.

Three BFA tracks: Performance and Choreography, Dance Teacher Certification, and Dance Studies. Auditions required for BFA Performance and Choreography and BFA Dance Teacher Certification. Application deadline February 28 for fall admission.
Performance Opportunities
Texas State Dance performs several shows each season — 2-3 shows in fall and 4-5 in spring. Ensembles include Merge Dance Company.
