About the Program

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Shenandoah Conservatory is designed for highly motivated, pre-professional dancers seeking careers as concert performers, choreographers, or dance educators, while the Bachelor of Arts in Dance serves students interested in a broad general education alongside dance study. Located in Winchester, Virginia, the conservatory offers an intimate, focused environment where students dance a wide repertoire of artistic styles and perform original choreography by faculty and internationally recognized guest artists.

Coursework

BFA curriculum includes ballet, modern, jazz, tap, pointe, Pilates, contemporary styles, contact improvisation, and partnering. Audition required for admission. BA students design a senior capstone project integrating dance and academic knowledge.

Performance Opportunities

Dance Ensemble performances on campus, professional showcases in Washington, D.C. and New York City, touring opportunities, and student-created choreography performed professionally. Alumni have performed on Broadway, in regional theatres, on national/international tours, and on cruise ships.
