About the Program

Seton Hill University's Department of Theatre and Dance offers a suite of dance degrees within the School of Visual and Performing Arts in Greensburg, PA. Coursework

Core curriculum includes dance technique, cultural dance forms, dance improvisation, dance history, teaching of dance, and dancer health and wellness. BA coursework includes world dance, West African dance, anatomy for dancers, and dance improvisation. Pre-Dance/Movement Therapy track includes Introduction to Dance Movement Therapy and Dance and Expression for Persons with Disabilities, preparing students toward R-DMT credentials. Dance Education track leads to Pennsylvania Pre-K-12 dance teaching certification. Auditions require training in ballet, modern, and jazz.

Facilities

The dance program is housed in the new award-winning Arts Center with dance studios, classrooms, and practice spaces, and uses the Performing Arts Center for performances.

Performance Opportunities

The department produces two dance concerts per year, alongside three full-length theatre productions and a number of studio productions; dance students also access performances, internships, and guest artist visits.
