About the Program
The Scripps Dance Program focuses on the study of bodily movement as it conveys and informs individual experience and expression. The program is designed for students who love dance but also want a broader liberal-arts education than a conservatory provides. Although excellence in technical dance is encouraged and supported, the program prioritizes helping students find their personal tie to the art form rather than mastery of a particular style. Dance majors choose from two curricular tracks — choreography/performance and movement studies — or design a personal track with a dance adviser.
