Core curriculum covers contemporary and world dance techniques; improvisation and choreography; history, theory, and cultural studies; experiential anatomy and kinesiology; and performance. The major requires selection of one of three tracks: Choreography and Performance, Production and Technology, or Dance Studies. Middlebury Dance Department has exhibited at Dancewave Through College and Beyond in New York City.
Facilities
The Dance Department is housed in the Mahaney Arts Center in Middlebury, VT, including MAC Dance Theatre (Studio 110) with sprung floor and MAC Rehearsal Studio (109) with marley covering.
Performance Opportunities
Dance Company of Middlebury (DCM), selected annually by audition for students who have completed DANC 0260, performs an annual January concert and tours internationally.
