About the Program
If you are a dancer with professional aspirations looking to enhance your technical and artistic skills in the context of a liberal arts education, Marymount Manhattan College's BFA in Dance is a performance-centered degree track offering specialization in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, or Choreography. Courses in music, anatomy, production, and dance history round out the dance curriculum. Students further their performance experience every semester while rehearsing and studying all aspects of dance production. NOTE (as of July 2026): MMC is completing a merger with Northeastern University; the combined institution is expected to be renamed Northeastern University – New York City after final approvals. Coursework
All BFA students, regardless of concentration, are required to take Embodied Africanist Aesthetics. Curriculum layers technique with music, anatomy, production, and dance history.

Performance Opportunities
The MMC Dance Company is a year-long competitive residency, cast by audition only. Biannual Mainstage productions and Dancers At Work programs provide additional performance opportunities.

Alumni Outcomes
MMC dance grads perform in concert dance companies (Ballet Hispanico, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Martha Graham Dance Company, The Metropolitan Opera, Parsons Dance) and on Broadway (42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Aladdin, Cats, Fiddler on the Roof, Hairspray, Hamilton, Radio City Rockettes, West Side Story, Wicked). Alumni have appeared as dancers with Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West, and Katy Perry, and continued graduate study at NYU, Pratt Institute, University of the Arts London, University of Hawaii, and University of London.
