About the Program
The Theatre & Dance Department at Gonzaga University trains and develops artists in theatre performance, technical theatre, and dance, offering a bachelor's degree (BA) and a minor in dance. Gonzaga Dance explores a variety of dance styles, production methods, and techniques including musical theatre, contemporary, ballet, jazz, dance production, choreography, and pop culture dance. Housed in the College of Arts & Sciences within the Jesuit, Catholic liberal-arts tradition, the program presents a dance season of 6-8 concerts each year, giving students opportunities to perform in both faculty- and student-choreographed concerts.

Curriculum (DANC prefix) includes Ballet I-III, Jazz Dance I-III, Contemporary/Modern Dance I-III, Musical Theatre Dance, Pop Culture Dance (hip hop/fusion/funk/contemporary), Dance: Culture and Art (social/ballroom forms), Dance Composition, Choreography and Advanced Choreography, Dance Production, Dance History, Musical Theatre History, Dance Conditioning, and dance pedagogy/instruction courses including a ZagDance service-learning practicum. Specialty offerings include contemporary/modern through an indigenous lens.
Facilities
Dance studio fully equipped for all classes from ballet to hip-hop, with a sprung floor, mirrors, barres, and a sound system. Performances take place in the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center and Gonzaga's Magnuson Theatre, a 218-seat modified thrust stage.
Performance Opportunities
A dance season of 6-8 concerts each year offers opportunities to perform in both faculty- and student-choreographed concerts, including the Spring Dance Concert and the Gonzaga Student Choreography Concert. A student Dance Club and Dance Company Lab ensemble also provide performance opportunities.

Graduates are prepared for careers in the performing arts and opportunities in education, commerce, and scientific research; alumni have joined regional theatre companies, worked on sitcoms and independent films, and earned master's degrees from graduate programs (per department About page).
