About the Program
The Dance Performance & Choreography Program's mission is to develop highly trained dance artists who are well-versed in the technical, creative, theoretical, historic, and analytical research areas of dance. Housed in Elon University's Department of Performing Arts (College of Arts and Sciences) in Elon, NC, the program offers a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography (68 credit hours), a Dance Science B.S., and a Dance Minor, providing conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting with core technique training in modern/contemporary, ballet, and West African dance.

Coursework
BFA requires 68 credit hours including Modern III-VI and Ballet III-VI technique sequences, choreography/composition, dance history, and somatic theory. Elective techniques include jazz, tap, pointe, world dance, musical theatre dance, structural yoga for dancers, classical Pilates, experiential anatomy, partnering, contact improvisation, and Fosse technique. Second undergraduate dance major is a Dance Science B.S. (bachelor of science, mapped to BA token per convention).

Performance Opportunities
Three main stage productions annually including Fall Dance Concert, Spring Dance Concert, and Red Circle Showcase; Dancing in the Landscape (site-specific performance during Family Weekend); senior dance thesis projects; Black History Month Concert; Choreography I & II Showings; and participation in the American College Dance Association Conference (per program facts page).
