About the Program
Denison University offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Dance situated squarely in the liberal arts. The department's three-pronged curriculum integrates Movement Practice, Dance Studies, and Professional/Advanced Studies to help students build professional skills in performance, choreography, production, and dance film. Students explore diverse dance styles including contemporary, ballet, hip hop, salsa, jazz, and African Diaspora dance, and prepare to be dance artists, visionaries, advocates, and leaders.

Coursework
B.A. requires a minimum of 36 credits; Minor requires a minimum of 24 credits. Curriculum organized into Movement Practices (African/Diasporan and Contemporary), four Areas of Inquiry (Critical Historical and Cultural Inquiries, Compositional Studies, Human Movement Investigations, Movement Analysis), Advanced Studies (200-level+), and Senior Research (DANC 451/452). Additional styles include salsa, dance film, and stretch/strength conditioning. Majors may not count 100-level courses toward requirements.

Facilities
The Michael D. Eisner Center for Performing Arts houses the program's stages and rehearsal spaces, including the Thorsen Dance Studio (natural light, Harlequin sprung-floor system, radiant floor heating) and Sharon Martin Hall.
