About the Program

Connecticut College's Department of Dance offers a Bachelor of Arts major and a minor in Dance within a liberal arts setting in New London, CT. The program pairs a strong liberal arts education with a comprehensive, demanding dance curriculum that encourages interdisciplinary exploration. Students study modern, post-modern, West African, Afro-Caribbean, ballet, hip hop, and tap technique alongside choreography, improvisation, dance history, dance writing, and music for dance, culminating in a four-level choreography sequence whose final level is a senior Capstone project.

Coursework

Performance Opportunities

At least six dance productions annually through the Dance Department and student-run clubs; senior majors produce their own concert each spring; each semester a guest artist works with students in a two-week residency teaching classes and choreographing works performed in department concerts.
