About the Program
CSU Dance, housed in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance within the College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, offers a collaborative dance training center and degrees designed to prepare majors for careers in dance-related fields. Students train in ballet and modern/contemporary technique alongside performance, choreography, pedagogy, production, and theoretical coursework. Coursework
BFA is 120 credits over 4 years, with eight levels of technique in modern and ballet, three progressive choreography levels, performance/production practicums, pedagogy courses, dance history (Western and non-Western), seminars (improvisation, body anatomy), a capstone concert, and an internship. Curricular focus areas (per the CSU Dance program page) are emphases rather than formal degree concentrations: Performance, Technique, and Repertoire; Choreography and Improvisation; Pedagogy; History and Theory; and Technical Production and Design. African diaspora ("Dances of the African Diaspora") and musical tap are taught.

Facilities
Program is housed in the University Center for the Arts, with live musical accompaniment for technique classes.
Performance Opportunities
Four main-stage productions annually, plus Fall and Spring Dance Concerts, a Dance Capstone Concert series, and community outreach engagements. Auditions are held each semester for enrolled dance technique students.
