About the Program

The Bates Theater and Dance Department provides an unparalleled liberal arts experience led by faculty and staff who are active professionals in their field. Bates offers separate majors and minors in both Theater and Dance. Majors and minors are strong in both theory and practice, supported by close mentorship and personalized student engagement. Bates is also home to the nationally-significant Bates Dance Festival, a summer institution that brings professional dancers and choreographers to campus.
