About the Program
As a dance major at Alma, students take rigorous studio technique courses in ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap and more, and examine practical, pedagogical and philosophical approaches to teaching dance in different settings. Students build a solid foundation in studio technique, dance theory and choreography, and perform in three dance concerts a year. The program is offered through the combined Department of Music and Dance at Alma College, a private liberal arts college in Alma, Michigan.

Performance Opportunities
Three dance concerts annually; the Alma College Dance Company (credit-bearing performance ensemble); the Kiltie Dancers (Highland dance group); spring term trips to New York and London to attend major theatrical and dance productions. Recent guest choreographers include Raphael Xavier, Laura Halzack, Winston Dynamite Brown, and Cisco Graciano.
